ipod touch updates 2009

Last week both my itunes and ipod touch software we out of date. because of this I updated my itunes to the latest version. However after updating my itunes and syncing my ipod to itunes i get the message “the ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes then install itunes again”

Since the actual itunes is up to date i assumed it was referring to the ipod touch software….. so i bought the latest version of that on my computer on itunes and have been billed for it… however since I havent been able to sync my pc to my ipod it doesen’t have it.

Also I did what it said and uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it numerous times but it still doesent let me sync which is a pain.

Any advice on what to do??
