When a battery is fully charged, it can not retain a charge anymore (obviously, right) — keeping it plugged in is a waste of energy and could actually wear out the battery after prolonged charging (depending on the power source that’s actually charging the device). It’s just best to unplug it when done.

I know this is true for most electronics; however, a iPod might be like my (and most) cellphones where the charger stops producing power to the battery after it has been charged. In that case, only energy would be wasted and the battery would not be effected in any way.
